2013 DC Nike Women’s Marathon

Sunday, April 18, 2013 | Washington, DC – After months of training for another marathon with my teammates in Greater Los Angeles – Team In Training (TNT) for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) we all successfully crossed the finish line at this year’s first inaugural DC Nike Women’s Marathon. The course around the nation’s capitol was absolutely beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the people cheering us on were absolutely priceless.

Together as participants across the country, WE RAISED OVER 6 MILLION DOLLARS for this race alone. At our pre-race reception at the Washington Convention Center the evening before, we were informed that the funds we raised will be committed to conducting more cancer research, clinical trials (one in which has enabled my teammate and dear friend, Virginia Garner, to live for almost a decade now), and medical treatment assistance for patients with blood related cancers.
